United Methodist Women

July 7th, 2015 by Kali Lewis

Now that many of us are busy with summer activities, the Naomi-Ruth Circle of the United Methodist Women has suspended its meetings until September.  Nevertheless, one of our big events of the year will soon be upon us.
Our annual summer UMW picnic luncheon will be held on Wednesday, August 5.  The planned menu is “Build Your Own Salad” with every imaginable salad fixing ingredient available to do your own thing.
The emphasis of this meeting will be Missions, and the program will consist of a guest speaker from LMAS.  Our group has a local mission with them by assembling layettes for new mothers in our area.  We may even include a baby shower in the day’s event by bringing items for the layettes.  See Lynn LaRose for what may be needed in this area.
Our regular activities continue as well:  The monthly Hymn Sing is held the first Monday of each month at 10 AM at the Medical Care Facility.  All are welcome to join us.  Don’t forget the UMW Reading Program.  Time is getting short to take part in this, but you may still be able to participate.  See Mary Prater for details.
It won’t be long before summer is over, and we will again begin our regular meetings.  So with that being said,  we need to give serious thought to how we will continue meeting – two circles, or not.  Please share your ideas with our UMW President Mary Prater.
Looking ahead, the annual Marquette District UMW meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 6, in

St. Ignace.  I hope many of you from FUMC will be able to attend.  There will be more information on this as it comes available.
